The Year That Was 2006: Books
I'll be honest: 2005 was a pretty poor year for book reading. Now, I really enjoy being a bookwork, but with graduating from university and moving back to Brighton, my books were neglected. The good news is that 2006 has seen a book-based revival in the Munro household, and from what I can gather, I've managed to read 25 books this year, which is just over 2 a month...
So, the books are, in no particular order:
- The Timewaster Letters
- Return Of The Timewaster Letters
- Kevin Smith: Silent Bob Speaks
- The Hagakure
- K-Pax 2
- The World According To Clarkson
- Bill Bryson: A Short History Of Nearly Everything
- Spike Milligan: Adolf Hitler - My Part In His Downfall
- Something Wicked: New Scottish Crime Fiction
- Amarillo Slim: In A World Full Of Fat People
- Dumping Hillary
- Mr. Phillips
- Stiff: The Curious Lives Of Human Cadavars
- Dave Barry's Bad Habits
- The Tao Of Bruce Lee
- The Zen Of Muhammad Ali
- What We Believe But Cannot Prove
- Random Acts Of Kindness
- Join Me
- Carter Beats The Devil
- The Diving Bell & The Butterfly
- Is This Is A Man / The Truce
- Scientology: Fundamentals Of Thought
- The Dice Man
- Four Blind Mice
The books which stand out in my mind are Carter Beats The Devil, and The Zen Of Muhammad Ali, and are books I wouldn't hesitate in recommending to anyone. What books have you read this year? Hand over your lists!
P.s. apologies for not including full author information or linkage on the list - if you need some more info on a particular book, feel free to ask me about it.
