Nike+ - Day 1

Went on my first Nike+ run today - I haven't had a chance to calibrate it properly, so it meant a run which in reality was just under 1 mile was recorded as 0.51 miles. Quite a way off. Seeing as you need to walk and run an exact 400 metres to calibrate it properly, I'm gonna need to head over to a racetrack to sort it out.

Regardless of the calibration issues, it's a really sexy bit of kit - I've set myself 2 challenges through it. Challenge 1 is for me to run at least 12 times in the next 4 weeks - those of you skilled at maths will know that means I need to run 3 times a week for me to reach the goal, which, once I get into the swing of things, should be more than accomplishable. Challenge number 2 though, is a bit tougher - I have 4 weeks to run 40 miles. This means 10 miles a week, which initially might be a bit overwhelming. I'll probably start off running a mile or so a session, and then slowly increase it, until I'm doing maybe 4 miles a session by the end of week 4. It's called a challenge for a reason I guess!

One thing that's left me a little bit bummed is that I haven't been able to find a pair of Nike+ shoes in Brighton! I went everywhere - JD, JJB, Foot Locker, Schuh, and a few other smaller places, and not only do none of them have them in stock, but no-one has even heard of Nike+! The amount of times I've had to get my receiver out of my bag an explain the concept to a blank-faced shop assistant is staggering. So, I ended up buying a regular pair of Nike Runners, which I'm planning to mod this weekend. Should be a fun little experiment!
