Death Proof
The reason I liked Death Proof so much wasn't just because of the patient dialogue, nor was it for the split second displays of ultra-gore. Death Proof was so great because it had many, many sides to it, and is rather complex despite the cheesy-b-movie-takeoff rhetoric.
In my mind, despite the violence, Death Proof is ultimately a chick-flick, and making chick flicks is maybe what Quentin Tarantino does best. He can empower women, and make his female characters realistic without patronising women viewers, while at the same time satiate the male audience who are hungry for fast quips and violence. It's his best asset, and one which many people probably don't realise he has. A winner of a film.
