A game of chance
Having just got back from poker, I can report that currently in a battle for the win in game 8 is Paul 'Droopy/McFly' Gration, and Tim 'The Franchise' Bowry - it's a tough one, but I feel Gration will come out on top. As for me, I finished in a respectable (but ultimately fruitless) third place. There's a lot up for stakes, and there may be some big moves in the standings after tonights games. The full results will follow tomorrow!
On a geekier note, I spent an hour or so this early evening trying to get a KHTML browser working on my home machine. I initially tried getting KDE-Cygwin to work, but the download site for the KDE-Cyg stuff seems to be playing up. In trying to get some kind of KHTML browser working on windows, a few options presented themsevles:
- 1. Get OSX running on my AMD hardware (easier said than done)
- 2. Get KDE on Cygwin up and running (difficult to do when the download mirror isn't working)
- 3. Download a copy of Swift (a Win32 browser based on WebKit)
The option I've tried, and currently doesn't work. The second option is a bit heavy (find a guide, find the OSX build it works on, sort out the partitions, wait several hours for OSX to install), and am not really that desperate to try yet. I really like the sound of the third option, but the Swift site as of this evening doesn't have any info about the browser, just an HTTP server holding page, and the download links aren't working. Does anyone know where I can get hold of a copy of this browser? If I can't get a copy, I'll have to keep plodding on with KDE-Cygwin...
So, out of the two subjects (playing poker, and installing a KHTML browser on a windows machine), which do you think is the biggest game of chance? I've sure got my opinion...
