10k training: the day with two runs

Decided to head out early on Saturday morning for a pre-breakfast run. Didn't get very far, unfortunately! It's now clear to me that running first thing in the morning, after drinking a bunch of beer and eating a takeout the night before, and not drinking any water before heading out makes you pretty shit at running. Who'd have known?

It felt bad, but at least I went out and did it. Watched the football, went and saw Resident Evil: Extinction, and returned home still thinking about the morning's catastrophe. So, I decided to head out again.

With a sports injury, not training can be tough. The majority of the time you're sitting around, waiting for things to get better, and the temptation to exercise on it can be far too great sometimes, especially if you've got an event (such as a 10k race) that you're supposed to be training for. My physio warned me about over-training, and I was in two minds as to whether I should head out again; surely doing a couple of miles in the morning, at a snails pace, and then another couple in the evening wouldn't kill me, would it?

Thankfully, it didn't, and despite being a little sore straight afterwards, a bit of ice and ibuprofen gel sorted me right out after my second run. This morning I feel good, and am going to enjoy my rest day even more, seeing as I managed to get out not once, but twice into the thick of the fast-approaching winter chill.
