10k training: day four
Another good day! The way I see it, if my distances can keep going up day by day, even if it's only by an extra 200 metres, it's a good sign.
Today saw me pushing the 5 kilometre mark, and I felt pretty good. The shins are sore, but I think it's just a case of pushing through the pain and getting used to running longer distances. No-one said training won't push me out of my comfort zone!
I'm beginning to feel strangely at ease while running - the endorphins probably have something todo with it, but having a goal to aim for in the 10k race has really given me a sense of purpose, and is making exercising, and eating a bit more sensibly, so much easier. The great music I've got on my iPod surely helps me along, too. Fort Minor's 'The Rising Tied' is a great album to run to.
I'm pushing ahead in the Nikeplus Challenge, too. If I can keep up the workout frequency I'll have Chris on the ropes faster than Amir Khan knocks out Frank Warrens' latest fall-guy, and by tomorrow, I may have even ran twice as far as him. Get your skates on, Chris!
One thing I need to remember is to start taking a towel to the gym. Now my distances are increasing, things are getting a bit...sweaty. An unpleasant image. Anyway, enough about running.
